I’m Alfie Buck.
I’m an instructional designer and educator with a global perspective and a passion for creating impactful, accessible learning. With a decade of experience designing curriculum, training staff, and developing digital resources, I now focus on building interactive eLearning that drives engagement and performance across diverse sectors. I’m driven by the belief that well-crafted learning experiences have the power to make a lasting impact.
My Path
Over the past decade, I’ve worked as a teacher, curriculum leader, and education strategist in schools across Thailand, Kuwait, and the Channel Islands. I’ve led departments, developed safeguarding initiatives, and designed tech-integrated instruction, all with a focus on purposeful, learner-centred design.
My passion for instructional design really took off when I led the transition of our secondary school to a fully online model during the COVID-19 pandemic. I adapted the curriculum, timetable, homework, and pastoral systems for virtual delivery, and saw first-hand how powerful well-designed digital learning can be. These experiences confirmed what I already suspected: instructional design is where my skills, values, and creativity truly align.
Now, I’m expanding my impact through an MBA in Educational Leadership at University College London, with a focus on instructional design theory (ADDIE, Kirkpatrick, Maslow) and learning innovation. I’m currently building a portfolio of interactive, scenario-based learning experiences rooted in learning science and real-world outcomes.
A Bit More About Me…
Outside of work, my heart is most full with my family and friends, whether we’re exploring the outdoors, enjoying a meal together, or just sharing a laugh. I’ve spent most of my adult life living abroad and embracing different cultures, with chapters in Thailand, Kuwait, and soon Colombia (starting September 2025). These experiences continue to shape how I see the world, approach challenges, and design for diverse audiences.
I believe great learning experiences should be human, intuitive, and purposeful, and I bring that belief into every project I work on.
